A celebration of Oregon Coast Indigo

It all started when…

Maybe it is the blue waters of the mighty Columbia River and Pacific Ocean, or perhaps it is the way our rainforest dwelling hearts sing when the sky is that rare cloudless hue. Either way natural indigo feeds the soul, and we are so excited to share it with you at the second annual Indigo Fest September 20-22. A full weekend of immersion into Coastal Indigo. Hosted at the beautiful North Fork 53 Coastal Retreat & Tea in Nehalem, Oregon.

We have been growing and extracting Indigo all around Clatsop County, on farms, in gardens and on back decks, and we are excited to share its magical hue with you. Come enjoy and learn with us.

We will spend the morning at two stations preparing our cloth to dye: #1 Mud - drawing and stenciling designs on cloth using a special resist paste made from clay. #2 Fold & Clamp - in this part of the show you will learn some basic itajime Shibori techniques for folding and clamping cloth to create designs.
