Artist Bio: Kristin Field is a natural dyer and gardener. She grows as much dye material as she can in her small Chicago backyard alongside food and cut flowers. Some of her favorite natural dyeing techniques to work with currently are stitched shibori and ecoprinting, and she especially enjoys creating pieces with a combination of the two.

Artist Statement about Piece: This piece is a combination of my two favorite dye plants to work with currently, indigo and coreopsis. I hope the process of creating this piece is visible in the final product. The coreopsis was started from seed in my kitchen and cared for in my garden until it was time to print with it and each shape was carefully drawn, stitched, & pulled over many hours before the piece was finally dipped 4 times in my iron indigo vat.
